ALPINE SKYPARK SERIES

The Alpine SkyPark creates the ideal setting for fostering exploration, challenge, and developing self-esteem.

The Alpine SkyPark allows participants to choose their own path through the course, thanks to a smart lanyard system that prevents double unclipping or clipping into the wrong cable. The pixie stick entry tower is possibly the most fun way to climb, unencumbered by ropes or cables. Our Alpine SkyPark offers a tremendous variety of challenges with close attention to detail and unique aesthetics, keeping users excited to return again and again.

This series was created with the following design goals in mind: to engage a wide variety of ages in time blocks ranging from 45 minutes to several hours; to allow participants to choose from a number of routes of varying levels of challenge with minimal staff requirements.

The Alpine Sky Park was designed by Alpine Towers International, Inc. (Alpine Towers) in the fall of 2017 as an alternative design to more traditional challenge courses. The Alpine Sky Park represents the next generation of challenge courses, allowing for more independent movement and choice, addressing the following themes:

  • Flexible Programming – Individuals and participant groups have unique goals. The Alpine Sky Park can be programmed for participant needs from recreation & play to team building. Programming for the Alpine Sky Park may focus on personal development as well as team development.
  • Independent Access – Participants enter the Alpine Sky Park at their own pace through one of the Climbing Towers.  Each Climbing Tower is a climbing activity, that relies upon netting for fall prevention instead of a harness and lanyard. This allows participants to climb directly to the top of the tower and into the Tree House, or stop and rest in one of the hammock nets or various resting points along the way up – without obstructing other participants on their way up.  Climbing is done at one’s own pace through the non-linear and wildly unique design.
  • Smooth transitions and throughput –  Once inside and on the top deck of the Tree House, participants are clipped into the smart belay system (CLiC-iT).  There are multiple events accessible from the top deck that the participant may choose from to access the Sky Park Activity area.  This affords easy access and smooth transitions into the course without getting backed up as participants arrive into the Tree House.
  • Personal Discovery & Play – The CLiC-iT Smart Belay system allows each participant to be more independent, and less supervised, remaining in a state of play. Participants have the ability to choose their own route, to choose when and how long to rest and observe, to choose which activities they wish to try (or not try), to observe before trying, to try before observing, and to choose the level of difficulty. There is true empowerment in allowing each participant the opportunity for self-guided discovery and personal choice.
  • Multitude & Variety of Events to Discover – There are a variety of Events splintering off from each of the initial Events  – all connected by the many Octagon Platforms in a non-linear pattern.  There are many activities available throughout the Sky Park, depending on the design.
  • Natural interactions and peer support opportunities – Peers are often in close proximity as they move independently throughout the course.  Participants will end up on the Octagon Platforms together as they pass and move through the Alpine Sky Park.  Both personal action and observation of others on the various activities provide hands on and vicarious learning and confidence building.  Interaction at the connecting Octagon Platforms allows for support to arise naturally between the participants. They can reach out with a helping hand and offer words of support and encouragement to each other.
  • Increased Accountability – Participants are able to quickly master the CLiC-iT system and safely manage it without direct oversight, therefore becoming personally accountable for their own movement throughout the Alpine Sky Park.
